The PYP is a transdiscipilinary framework for learning. This framework allows students to learn necessary content, skills, and character development with an authentic purpose. For example, one of grade 3’s units focus on how people create inventions to meet a need or solve a problem. Through this unit, students READ about inventors from the past and how they have designed creations. They WRITE proposals of inventions they want to create. They explore SCIENTIFIC concepts of simple machines. They analyze geometric phenomena in MATHEMATICS to understand how machines work. All disciplines get used, practiced, and learned through units like these.
