HS Apr2

Dear parents,

Busy couple of weeks before Spring break. Let’s buckle up :-)

Visiting Author
Linda Sue Park is here at Academia Cotopaxi for three days of learning engagements for all students, April 1-3.

High School students attended a presentation by Linda Sue Park on April 1, the 10th grade will have a session devoted to the book A Long Walk to Water, and students who wish to attend an optional writing workshop after school on April 2 may sign up for that.

Parents are also invited to meet Linda Sue Park by attending a presentation in the auditorium at 10:30am, Wednesday April 3, followed by a light reception in the library.

Career Day: April 9th
Career Day is a special day where we invite working professionals to Academia Cotopaxi to share their insights from the world of work with our students.  It is a wonderful day where students are able to make connections between what they are studying and what they intend to study in university to the personal stories that are shared.  Would you be interested in sharing your story? Think about what you would tell your 18-year old self.  That knowledge is invaluable!  If you are interested in presenting in either English or Spanish, please contact Mr. Lysha Wasser (lwasser@cotopaxi.k12.ec) for more details. We would highly appreciate your participation as your unique story can make a huge difference and impact in the life of a student.

College Counseling:
10th Grade Parents: If your child has not signed up yet for the PSAT 10, please do so here
11th Grade Parents: April 5th is the last day to sign up for the May 4th SAT.  If your child is applying to the United States, this is a very important date to not miss.  Please email Mr. Wasser (lwasser@cotopaxi.k12.ec) if you have any questions.
12th Grade Parents: April 1st, Mr. Wasser and Ms. Keyes Voeller, will be providing a “Letting Go” presentation at 6:00 p.m. in the High School Office that will focus on the Class of 2019 university acceptances, how to get a student visa, the upcoming transition for both students and parents, and student life at university.

IB Corner:
Our seniors will be presenting their final Capstone on their CAS experiences during the last two years to a panel of teachers and staff. These presentations are the culminating experience to their CAS program and determine their final grade for CAS. Parents are welcome to attend! These will take place on Wednesday, April 10th from 3:15 p.m.-4:15 p.m.
