ES Feb5

This is a short week for our students and a great opportunity for you to engage with your children!  This year, we are using Skyward to generate our report cards which will require that you access the system to see these. On Tuesday, you will receive an email with directions.  Please celebrate your child’s learning; read the comments and enjoy these with your child.  Your message to them can be powerful and motivating.  Report Cards are a formal way of summarizing your child’s learning, yet they could not ever capture all the learning that happens in school.  Your child’s story is so much more complex than the content of the report card. So, also take this opportunity to review your child’s story in SeeSaw.  Ask them what they get from your comments when you post a “like” or when you write a reflection, celebration, or question.  Reflecting on learning is an ongoing process and it is the reflection that results in the most powerful form of learning. How wonderful that this can happen daily with your children, and not only during report card time!

Inquiry Corner
One of the attributes of the IBO Learner Profile is  being PRINCIPLED as defined by “Acting with integrity and honesty, with a strong sense of fairness and justice, and with respect for the dignity and rights of people everywhere. Take responsibility for our actions and their consequences.”  What actions do we take in being principled?  How do we support children’s development of acting in principled ways?
