Technology is everywhere in our daily lives. We all rely on our phones, computers, tablets, etc to stay connected in our professional and personal lives. Middle School students are at an age where they are learning to navigate how to use these devices responsibly, in a way that benefits their learning and their socializing. Because technology tends to be the “default” way in which many of us connect, it is important to intentionally create times and spaces without technology. In the Middle School, we have device limitations when students are on campus, to encourage person to person interactions.

The following reminder was recently posted to the MS Student Bulletin (on Edmodo):

As a reminder, phones are not allowed when you are on campus (before school, during the day, after school). The only exception is if a teacher allows you to use it for a class assignment, in the classroom.
If you bring a phone, it needs to be kept in your bag. If your phone is out, you may be asked to put it away, or it may be taken and kept with a teacher.
Thanks for being a responsible user of technology!

Please help reinforce this message at home, and remind your child that if s/he needs to get in touch with you, s/he should either use the phone in the MS Office, or ask a teacher if s/he may take his/her phone out to call home.

MS Social

Another great way for students to interact in person is at a MS Social! Our next MS Social is coming up on Friday, November 10, 6:00 - 8:00pm in the Gym. There will be dancing as well as ping-pong and other games.
We do not have sports or after school activities on Fridays (except NASA club), thus students must leave campus after school and return at 6:00pm. Students are to be picked up at 8:00pm. Thank you in advance for your support with prompt drop off and pick ups on Friday. The Socials are for MS students only and are supervised by MS faculty. The last Social was a fun success and we hope for a repeat event!

Transportation Change Form

Please remember to use the Transportation Change Form any time your child will use an alternate transport method. Student safety is our number one priority, and we can only work with the information you provide. Thank you for supporting the Transportation office!

Progress Reports, MAP results, Conferences

MAP test results and Quarter 1 Progress Reports are scheduled to go out on November 13. Your child will have the opportunity to conference with his/her teachers about MAP scores between now and November 13. MS Parent/Student/Teacher conferences are held on November 15. More details to follow closer to the conference date.

Enjoy the long holiday weekend.

With kind regards,
