ES Aug 27

This first week of school has been filled with examples of caring attitudes from all of our students. Your children have been engaged in creating agreements with their peers and teachers that will foster a positive culture. They have been enjoying a variety of play based activities and are enjoying getting to know each other. Students are certainly participating positively in their classes and in the common areas. Students in PK and K have visited their classes and we are looking forward to welcoming them on Tuesday.

We encourage you to support your children’s autonomy at home. Children will benefit from simple tasks like getting their clothes ready (to include a cap for recess time), taking care of their belongings (there are several non-labeled items in our lost and found already…), preparing healthy snacks (take advantage of the labels as a learning opportunity), and contributing to the overall needs of your family.

We encourage parents who are interested in supporting our school-home partnership as homeroom parent representatives to contact your homeroom teacher. See below for our director’s message regarding parent engagement.

Coming up...
Monday, September 2
Kids Cafe Begins! - Children in grades 1-4 will be participating in the set-up organization of our lunch time. All children will have a turn during the first semester for a week, and then again second semester.  We invite you to include your children in your home routines and give them responsibilities that will support their autonomy and independence, as they contribute to the needs of the family.

Parent Representatives
If you are interested in becoming a parent representative, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher. Here are the guidelines for you to review.
