Middle School - Summer Learning 2018

Middle School - Summer Learning 2018

We all know that students need a break during the summer, and we all know that if students are completely disengaged from academics over the summer, they will have a difficult time in August. In order to set our students up for a successful start to next school year, the Middle School is requiring summer learning in a few classes. Please read this page carefully so that you can complete summer assignments in Spanish, Mathematics, and Language Arts. We look forward to learning together in August!

Here are some links where you can practice, grammar, vocabulary, and reading depending on your level. You will need to practice for 1 hour each week, choosing different activities each time.

All Levels

Language Arts

All students who are entering grades 6-8 are asked to read three books of their choice over the summer in preparation for their Language Arts class. Keep track of your reading on this document. Students will be required to write about one of those books during the first week of school.

Wondering what to read?  Here are some great places to look for suggestions:

You can also read online. Go to the library webpage anytime for access to popular novels in eBooks, Tumblebooks for picture books and graphic novels, or WorldBook Online for non-fiction.  Instructions are included in this document or you can contact Ms. Egan at jegan@cotopaxi.k12.ec if you need help.

Remember, reading in English just twenty minutes a day will keep you ready to begin school in August.

All Middle Schooler’s should enroll in an online summer math course on Khan Academy. Students have received instructions to enroll in this class before the end of the school year.

Students should login into Khan Academy using their Cotopaxi email address to complete their assignments.

If a student did not register for their course at the end of the school year then they will need to click on the coaches button and enter the join code for their grade level.
